Difference in Selling Device and Selling Service

Wireless (Wimax / CDMA) devices are easily available in market, you can go to any shop and buy a device then later activate it by calling on given number. This is simple example of "DEVICE SELLING" and it has nothing to do with selling service. Yet you bought device don't expect customer service from those services.

Any broadband which allows users to buy device from franchise or shop hardly gets track on device movement. They can't call you back to ask if you are satisfied with their service , you can't stop bills , you and company gap is too much.

Worldcall , PTCL EVO , Wi-Tribe , Wateen , Infinity all are working on Device selling model. Although all of them have their call centers and customer support, but their model is device selling and they cant facilitate their customer even they decide to someday.

Qubee is selling service not device that's why you can't take any QUBEE device from any authorized shop / franchise , distribution office , qubee store etc. You have to order QUBEE Connection, their representative will visit you and deploy the connection after complete satisfaction of signal availability , they would confirm from their concern dept before leaving the device. QUBEE calls their customers when a new customer comes on board. Then time to time they keep in touch, so customer is not calling for their problems but qubee is calling to listen from them.

Postpaid Vs Prepaid

Just like mobile companies, broadband companies also have launched Postpaid and Prepaid connections for their consumers. If customer uses the internet services frequently , he always gets benefit in tariff by choosing PostPaid connection. But there also a majority of customers of those who don't use services that regularly but they can't ignore the need. Prepaid Broadband is the best choice for all those customers who use internet not that frequent or the work they do lies in a very limited volume downloads.

It's all up to users requirement, for few unlimited is the only choice and broadband is useless for them if it's not unlimited. On other side users with less usage always seem searching for internet which should be fast but shouldn't be expensive because their usage is not much.

So analyse your requirements, count your usage, hours you use internet then decide what's best for you. PostPaid or a Prepaid connection. Looks Like honeymoon period is over for WiMax Users

Looks like honeymoon period is over for Wimax users, Wi-Tribe is back with Activation charges. Now Wi-Tribe is charging activation charges , and these charges are non refundable. This step may be taken because of increasing number of churn customers. As a user, I would never like this changing in tariff , but as a part of any net service provider I won't totally go against it. Users usually misuse these special offers where they dont need to pay for activation charges or any other charges at the time of subscription. This gives freedom to customer to not to pay for what he had used previous month. But If you go in depth, there are only few customers who don't like to pay for what they used. Just for those users who will never come back again once you started charging for activation or device charges in starting , this will impact on numbers of signups.
On the other side Qubee the main competitor in WiMax broadband in Karachi, still not charging for Activation or subscription charges. Although Qubee must also be facing churning ratio little bit higher because of not charging any non refundable charges till yet. After Wi-tribe it's more likely that now Qubee will also start charging for subscription(connection or activation) charges and also for Wimax ( WiFi or Non WiFi CPE) . Up till this date (30th June 2010) Qubee is not charging for any activation or any device charges.
